What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

Social justice runs like a golden thread throughout the Bible. God created the world so that we could
live in harmony with each other and flourish in community. Any breakdown in relationship between humans, and humans and the rest of the created world, is a violation of God’s design and purpose. Social justice helps to address this violation and to restore all of creation once again.
